Reverend Alvin E. Finley is a native of Key West, Florida; he attended and graduated from Mays High School; Goulds, Florida 1961.  He furthered his education by attending Miami Dade Jr. College of Miami, Florida; Wayne Technical Institute, Goldsboro, North Carolina; Allen Hancock College, Lompoc, California,  the Morris College, School of Religious Studies Extension, of Charleston,  South Carolina and Andersonville Theological Seminary.  

Reverend Finley served 20 years in the United States Air Force, upon retirement he  worked for the Department of the Treasury as an internal revenue officer with the Department of Defense  as a computer analyst and computer equipment control officer; he retired from the Charleston County School District, as well as the radio industry, as a radio personality.

Reverend Finley’s community & outreach services consist of: an on–call Chaplin and Steven Minister for the Summerville and North CharlestonTrident Medical Centers. His outreach also consists of the Strawberry Assistance Center. It is a

respite care center, as well as, an outreach ministry that meet the needs of families with aging parents and their aging relatives--especially those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related problems by providing respite care for caregivers. 

Located within the assistance center is an emergency food pantry that assist low-income families with food, distributes administrative materials concerning job applications, food stamps applications, and related information on how to acquire further assistance from local agencies.

His mission and outreach goal is not only help build up the spiritual awareness of man but to support the “whole man” and to help stamp out hungry in the community one family at a time.
